The Nurse Practitioner for Behavioral Health provides clinical expertise that supports the advancement of nursing practice and continuous quality improvement for behavioral health patients throughout the organization. Emphasizing service excellence, patient safety, staff safety and organizational integration, the Nurse Practitioner provides leadership and resources that promote the following:
Improved patient outcomes.
Timely clinical problem consultation and communication of clinical issues at all levels (staff, management, and providers).
Effective interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration and service coordination.
Effective and current care standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, etc. that enhance the care of patients including but not limited to restraints/seclusion, suicide assessment, resilience, trauma informed care, electroconvulsive therapy, withdrawal/substance abuse.
Application of clinical research, evidence based practice and best practice findings in the role modeling, education and coaching/mentoring of staff and students.
Develops curriculum on behavioral health topics for a variety of public and professional audiences.
Participates on assigned hospital, system, and medical committees.
Masters degree in nursing or doctorate in clinical specialty required.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Current Washington State licensure as Registered Nurse.
Current Washington State licensure as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner – Nurse Practitioner.
Current National Provider Identifier
Active member of the NWH&MC Medical Staff
AHA BLS certification
Certification in specialty and CNS preferred or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Crisis Prevention International (CPI) Certified Instructor preferred.
Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the assigned unit/department.
Active member of a professional nursing organization.
Three years of recent experience as an ARNP in specialty preferred.
Minimum of 3 years in clinical specialty including experience in leadership, education and/or project management.
Must be able to handle a fluctuating workload
This job requires ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written) with all stakeholders (providers, caregivers, patients, family members) for the effective treatment of patients.
