MCG Director Clinical Product Development and Innovation in Seattle, Washington

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be a key member of the Clinical Analytics, Research, and Editorial (CARE) Team and will lead development of new content solutions in conjunction with the Editor-in-Chief and other key internal stakeholders. The position will require being an expert resource on MCG's clinical content, as well as overall healthcare trends, market needs, and regulatory changes. Familiarity with product development and different electronic medical record and medical management systems is a plus, as MCG's content is increasingly integrated with these systems for delivery to customers. The primary responsibility will include gathering intelligence and performing customer research to identify market gaps, create prototypes, validate potential solutions, synthesize business cases and financial models, and manage content-related projects on the Product Roadmap. This will involve working closely with many different internal stakeholders, including product management, customer insights, client-facing staff, and software development; this work will also require frequent engagement with client physicians, nurses, case managers and other senior leadership, participation in industry events, and presenting on behalf of the department and company. A successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, good understanding of the health care system (including principles of utilization management, quality improvement, and payer/provider needs/priorities), and characteristics associated with being an ideal team player. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to organize and prioritize, and an inquisitive spirit are essential. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Assists Editor-in-Chief with research, planning, and development of new content products and solutions. Member of the CARE Production Management Group (CPMG) with ongoing interaction with Managing Editors, Lead Actuary, Director of Content Production, and Manager of Clinical Research and Editorial Support. Other key working relationships will include those involved in product development, including (but not limited to) Director of Product Management, Director of Customer Insights, Director of Medicaid and Government Market, Product Managers, and members of the IT department's Content Authoring and Production Team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Establish and maintain expertise of MCG clinical content, including content volumes/solutions and production processes * Establish and maintain expertise in health care trends and market needs * Establish and maintain familiarity with software and product development, including issues related to integration with internal MCG software solutions and external delivery mechanisms such as electronic medical records and medical management systems * Lead research, planning, and development of new clinical product content * Monitor the health care sector for intelligence regarding opportunities for content enhancements, upgrades, and new solutions (including federal/state regulations, policy issues, payors/providers, new technologies, competitive intelligence, etc.) * Coordinate the Annual Edition Planning Meeting, including setting of the agenda, organization of all presentations, and follow-up of action items * Review and manage content-related items in the product development funnel process with formulation of plan for further evaluation, research, and decision-making, as needed * Coordinate research and information needs with Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editors, and Director of Customer Insights, including execution of focus groups, surveys, market research, and market value and ROI estimations, solicitation of targeted feedback from clients and/or internal client-facing staff, participation in Advisory Council m
