Overview: Under general supervision, the Endoscopy Technician functions under the direct supervision of the gastroenterologist and RN to assist with the operation of technical equipment used during simple and complex endoscopic procedures. The physician, RN and GI tech work as a team in the procedure room to provide the optimal conditions for achieving positive patient outcomes. The endoscopy technician is responsible for the decontamination of and quality assurance for all endoscopy equipment and supplies. Other endoscopy tech responsibilities include facilitating patient flow, room turnover, stocking procedure rooms and ordering supplies. The endoscopy technician supports the Everett Clinic’s mission and values, service excellence process and clinic/department policies and procedures.
$1000 Sign-On Bonus
Schedule: Per Diem either 4 - 10 hour days (6:50am-5:20pm) or 3 - 12 hour days (6:50am-7:20pm). Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday rotation.
Per Diem teammates work in the Ambulatory Surgery Centers and the Cancer Partnership and are available to work a minimum of 1 day per week, but generally average less than 20 hours per week. Per diem staff may be asked to work additional hours, if their schedule will allow, to cover for vacation or other vacancies. These teammates will receive a 10% differential added to their base rate of pay.
The initial training requires full time Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm, until training is complete. This is not optional. Please ensure you available to attend training before applying to this position.
Plans, organizes and performs as a surgical scrub technologist, including the collection and preparation of equipment, instruments and supplies necessary for surgical procedures.
Following a complete surgical scrub, prepares the O.R. for the procedure; drapes the black table and mayo stand; opens all packs and prepares instruments, supplies, and basins; arranges the room and instruments per physician preference.
Completes a pre-op final count for sponges, instruments and sharps with circulator present when applicable.
Arranges drapes, suction and sterile field.
Hands instruments to surgeon during procedure.
Cleans instruments as received back from surgeon and keeps instruments readily at hand during the case.
Assists the surgeon with gowning and gloving before the start of the case.
Continually works in a neat, organized, safe and efficient manner.
Continually observes closely and anticipates any special problems and equipment or supply needs as the case progresses.
Keeps track of all instruments, supplies, sponges and sharps throughout the case
Assists the circulating nurse with the safe transfer of the patient to the recovery room after the procedure.
Assists with cleaning the O.R., including mopping the floor, wiping down all surfaces, disposing of trash and waste, and instrument cleaning and processing.
Completes the surgeons’ preference cards and keeps them up to date.
Participates in maintaining a safe environment, utilizing the principles of aseptic technique.
Practices sound cost containment measures while providing supplies and equipment for patient care.
Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, visitors and staff while
maintaining patient confidentiality.
Conducts self in a professional manner.
Supports the Patient’s Bill of Rights and acts as a patient advocate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technologists
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting or a busy multi-specialty ASC.
Certificate/License: Current ORT (Operating Room Technician) certification, preferred. Current AHA- BLS Certification required.
